Ta Prohm is the famous ‘jungle temple’ where giant tree roots wrap themselves around the ruins. If it looks familiar, that’s because it featured in the movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
As with all temples in the Angkor area, you’ll need to buy a pass from the official online store: https://www.angkorenterprise.gov.kh/en. There are other ways to purchase, but we decided this was the quickest and easiest.
We hired a Tuk-Tuk driver to take us to various temples over three days. We started late, after a delicious breakfast at our hotel: FCC Angkor. Then, returned early afternoon to relax by the pool.
For Ta Prohm, our driver took us to the East Gate and collected us from the West Gate. We also visited Banteay Kdei and Srah Srang the same day and would recommend that you do the same. Tuk Tuk cost in February 2026 US$15.
Ta Prohm was probably our favourite temple over three days. Unlike Angkor Wat, which feels curated and monumental, Ta Prohm feels accidental — as if the jungle simply forgot to let go.
