The Hilton Doubletree at Newcastle Airport is the perfect place to stay before a morning flight. We flew TUI Premium Economy to Florida.

This is the view from the airport terminal – just three minutes walk (not a covered walkway).

Check in was friendly and I was given the usual Doubletree cookie, an upgrade to a King Deluxe room plus some vouchers for the bar and for breakfast as part of my Hilton Diamond Diamond benefits.

The room was a classic, comfortable Hilton room. Bathrobes and slippers were provided.

The view, to the airport car park, was obscured by the hotel building opposite –  you can see the hotel gym.

As always, I would prefer a dedicated shower instead of a bath.

The cookie had been in the oven too long, which is a shame as Doubletree usually good cookies. It didn’t matter as some delicious local chocolates had been left in the room, together with complimentary bottles of water.

The air con and wi-fi worked well. The safe was on the bottom shelf of a cupboard and that made it difficult to access.

Rates at the Doubletree Newcastle Airport are usually very reasonable, especially for Hilton points redemption – only 20,000 points.

I’d recommend a stay at this hotel whenever you have a morning flight.
