Bob Evans operate over 400 restaurants across 18 US states – all are owned by the company, none franchised. They offer classic homestyle, country-living food.

We visited one of the Bob Evans close to The Villages, an over-55 retirement community in Florida. Bob Evans is popular with an older clientele, especially this location.

Inside, there is some theming, with pictures of open farmland, but nothing like Cracker Barrel.

The staff were all friendly and familiar, just like you’d expect from an American diner.

There’s hardly any alcoholic drinks, but they do offer a mimosa (orange juice and sparkling wine) for $6.99 – this was served un-mixed, so you could cheat and just drink the wine.

The slow-roasted turkey dinner didn’t live up to the picture on the website, but was tasty and good value at $12.79.

The beef pot roast, also good value at $13.09.

We also visited for breakfast. The food was much better than these pictures.

If you’ve driven past Bob Evans restaurants and always wondered what they sold, then now you know – better than Denny’s, not quite as good as Cracker Barrel.
