Santa Pola lies twenty kilometres south of Alicante – it’s quieter than its neighbour. Scotify is probably the only bar where you are likely to find the game you want to watch.
Before you start saying how bad it is that tourists don’t embrace the local culture and spend their holidays in sports bars, let me say that sometimes, you just need to watch your favourite team play. We ate fresh fish every night in Los Curros and I visited Scotify once, to watch a Newcastle United game – so there!
Scotify isn’t a Scots bar – it’s named after the owner – Scott.
There are a couple of tables outside and steps up into the bar.
There are plenty of screens inside, plus a large projector. Scott was showing four different games on the day I visited.
Scott is a welcoming host, engages with customers and is a comedian.
Beer prices were less than anywhere else we’d visited in Santa Pola. There’s no food available, but customers are welcome to order from a delivery service.
If you’re in Santa Pola and looking to watch a game, with some friendly English banter, then Scotify is the place you’re looking for.
