The Lindian Village is a beautiful, peaceful, luxury beachside resort, about an hour’s drive from Rhodes airport. It really is a perfect place for a holiday.
We booked our taxi with https://rhodes-airport-taxi.com/ €77 each way in September 2024. Our driver was waiting for us with a sign and drove us in a comfortable car.
The above video covers all the hotel in 11.5 minutes – if you want every last detail, then please continue reading.
Glass of prosecco at a friendly, but slow for no obvious reason, check in and we were soon in a King River Passage Pool Suite with all-inclusive. This was a lovely upgrade to the two-room suite with terrace that we had booked and probably because of our Hilton HHonors Diamond status. A porter took us on a golf cart took to our room.
We were immediately struck by how quiet it was throughout the resort.
King River Passage Pool Suite
The hall contained a wardrobe with safe and complimentary minibar. The minibar was stocked with beer, water and cola. We always brought water back from the restaurants and never required the minibar to be refreshed, although sometimes our cleaner would leave some small water bottles on the table.
The bedroom was beautifully appointed, with a four-poster king bed and bedroom bench (yes, that’s what the end-of-bed furniture is called), large flat-screen tv, plenty of electrical and USB sockets and a separate dressing and wardrobe area.
The TV only had English news channels, but did have YouTube.
Beside the bed was a ‘suitePad’ with details about the hotel. I only used it to check that we had restaurant reservations and when it couldn’t do that, I returned it to the stand and forgot about it.
The wardrobes contained an ironing board and iron, hairdryer, fluffy bathrobes and slippers.
The modern bathroom had both a bath and shower, plenty of quality toiletries, including sunscreen and after-sun. The double sink was enormous. Weirdly, there were no tissues, only toilet rolls.
Unlike the Atrium Prestige Resort, there wasn’t a sign to say that toilet paper shouldn’t be flushed – nonetheless, we were careful not to overload it.
The sitting room had a table, sofa, another flat-screen TV, kettle, coffee pod machine and plenty of electrical and USB sockets.
We asked for the sofa to be converted to a bed and that was done immediately – always handy to have a spare bed for when I’m snoring!
There were separate aircon controls for bedroom and sitting room. The daytime temperature was averaged 33 °C and the aircon struggled to get below 24.5 °C. At night 23 °C. That was okay for us, just don’t expect to get it lower.
The pool area was impressive.
Outdoor dining table.
Balinese bed, outdoor shower and sunbeds.
Doors to the bedroom and sitting room. What looks like it could be a square jacuzzi, once was a jacuzzi, but the controls had been disabled.
Pool cleaners visited every day to clean the pool. We also purchased a small fishing net from the general store 300m from the hotel and used that to catch bugs between pool cleaning.
The only extra we would have liked would be somewhere to hang wet pools towels and swimwear – other than the back of the dining chairs.
The wi-fi was fast and reliable throughout the hotel, including the beach.
When we returned from dinner, we found a welcome plate of fruit, bottle of prosecco on ice and some jars of honey from the hotel’s bee revitalisation initiative. The prosecco fitted easily into the minibar.
Looking around the hotel, I would say that the River Passage Pools Suites are some of the best in the resort. The pool area is huge and doesn’t feel claustrophobic, whereas the Bohemian Pool Suites seemed to have a much smaller pool area.
All-inclusive
If you have the all-inclusive package, then you can easily enjoy a week without spending extra money – although please remember to tip the staff.
You are able to dine, once per week, at each of the three à la carte restaurants; see separate reviews for Alas Ouzeri, Era Ora and Niku. After that, you need to pay the menu prices less 20%. We made reservations, via email, a few weeks before arriving at the hotel – the hotel ask that bookings are made at least two days in advance.
The house wine is a really good standard and large bottles of water are left on every table – we always took the half empty bottle away with us and you can also ask for a full bottle.
Good quality cocktails and branded drinks are all included. You’ll need to pay for top-shelf drinks such as single malt whisky.
The staff ask for your room number, but amazingly remember it the next time. I tipped the Bliss bar staff €25 in advance rather than tip per drink. Didn’t use the pool bar. Tipped €7 in the fine-dining restaurants. No idea if that was stingy or generous but they seemed happy.
Access to the spa treatments are not included for all-inclusive guests, although we were given a 20% discount voucher.
I can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t choose to add all-inclusive – drinks are expensive and it isn’t as if there is a local restaurant within walking distance.
There is a shop within the hotel that sells snacks, alcohol, swimwear, cosmetics, sunscreen and inflatables. A less-expensive shop is about 300m walk from the hotel entrance.
Estia Main Restaurant
The longest we had to wait for a table was just a few minutes – that was 9.30am at breakfast.
The main restaurant has a good buffet with plenty of delicious items to choose from. Drinks are served at the table. The staff were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for you.
Here are some plates that I assembled from the buffet.
The breakfast buffet had good coffee, fresh juice and bottled water brought to your table. The buffet was extensive and included an omelette /fried egg station – only thing missing for me was poached eggs.
Beach
The beach is private and has plenty of comfortable sun beds with beach umbrellas and Balinese beds. The sand is a mix of small stones and sand. The entrance to the sea, quite rocky. Wear beach swimming shoes. This isn’t a Caribbean beach, but the sea was clear and really warm in September.
Towels and bottled water are provided and there is a waiter service for fast food from the ‘Yummy Truck’ and drinks from the pool bar. We only took towels and water as we ate lunch at the buffet and drank around our pool or at the Bliss Bar.
Bliss Bar
The Bliss bar opens at 6pm and sits between the main restaurant and Niku.
We could always find a table after dinner and the drinks always arrived quickly.
The bar is also the location for evening entertainment. Don’t expect lavish shows, maybe a DJ or a violist.
The area around the bar is quite dark – there is a string of lights suspended above, but these were never illuminated.
Dreams ‘n’ Creams
Dreams ‘n’ Creams is a small ice cream parlour opposite the Bliss Bar. There’s a nice selection of ice creams to take away, although the flavours are less exotic than shown on the hotel website. I think they also make crêpes.
Pool and Pool Bar
The pool is beautiful, with plenty of sunbeds.
There isn’t any loud music blasting, or some animation team shouting over a loudspeaker. Don’t expect any foam parties. It’s just peaceful.
We didn’t use the pool or the pool bar.
The pools are beautifully illuminated at night.
Bugs
My legs were bitten by mosquitoes. I saw a few wasps, but none bothered us. I didn’t see a single cockroach. Our pool terrace had some non-biting ants. No spiders. Just a few small flies.
Check Out Experience
The hotel reception were friendly and were happy to arrange a late checkout until 2pm – we were also able to have lunch on the departure day.
Overall
The Lindian Village Beach Resort is amazing. The architecture is beautiful, everywhere is clean, the staff friendly and professional, the food delicious. The River Passage suites are perfectly located and luxuriously appointed.
In 2023, we stayed at the nearby Atrium Prestige Resort and it’s slightly better than the Lindian Village Beach Resort – see comparison table below. However, if I include the upgrade we received, the Lindian Village wins. Whichever resort you choose, you won’t be disappointed.
