Sia is an amazing Asian restaurant, just a few steps away from the Marriott Hotel on V Celnici street in central Prague. Purpose built, set over several floors and with multiple kitchens it’s a modern masterpiece.
I’m struggling to remember what was there before Sia opened in 2017.
We prefer the tables on the basement floor.
Prices correct as of our visit in February 2025.
A 0.15 glass of good Primitivo Stracalli (119 Kč) and a carafe of tap water with lumps of shungit (which is a bit like coal, but known for some anti-bacterial properties) in the bottom (88 Kč). At least it was refilled for free.
We were looking forward to the the Steamed spicy bun and soft shell crab tempura with avocado, wasabi and cucumber kimchi (248 Kč) – so delicious that I could just eat that and nothing else.
Sadly, the above dish has been replaced by Crispy fried soft shell crab with macadamia nuts, Thai vegetable salad, coconut milk dressing and mango mayonnaise with chili (348 Kč). This new version was really disappointing – the crispy batter (instead of tempura) didn’t work well with the soft shell crab, instead of delicious kimchi, there was a salad, too big for what is really a starter (I also didn’t really like it) and the price is 100 Kč higher.
The Sea Bass Furikake – pan-roasted fillet, yuzu hollandaise sauce with miso, green asparagus, king mushrooms and wasabi mashed potatoes (488 Kč) – this was the second time we’d had this and it’s a good dish.
On our previous visit we had Tiger prawns and octopus stir-fried on a wok with Tom Yam paste, lime and coriander, jasmine rice (498 Kč).
Despite our disappointment with the new version of soft shell crab, Sia can mostly be relied upon to provide delicious food. I’d certainly recommend a visit – but you’ll need to make a reservation in advance.
