La Taberna del Gourmet has three locations in Alicante. At the restaurants we visited, staff were friendly and professional and the food was delicious.
The first location we visited (for lunch) was Corte Inglés Federico Soto – this is a modern space within a shopping centre. It’s open late in the evening, but it’s more suited to lunch.

A 0.75l bottle of water €2.90. A glass of Jardin de la Emperatriz, 2019 (Tempranillo) €5.25.
Four Buñuelos de bacalao (Cod Fritters) €14.00 (€3.50 each).
Four ham croquettes €15.40 (€3.85 each).
Patatas bravas with aioli and spicy sauce €6.00.
I don’t think they have their own bathrooms – at least we didn’t see any. We used the ones operated by a restaurant on the top floor of the shopping centre,
The second location we visited (for dinner) was San Fernando. This is a cosy place and more suitable for an evening.
A 0.75l bottle of water €2.90. A glass of Tarima Hill, 2021 (Monastrell) €5.15.
Meat and foie gras cannelloni with béchamel and black truffle €21.70. This was probably the best of all the delicious dishes we enjoyed.
Cod with tomato sauce and roasted vegetables €28.95.
La Taberna del Gourmet was one of our favourite restaurants in Alicante. Highly recommended.
