Hidden on a small street, close to the centre of Ljubliana is Ljubljančanka, a lovely restaurant, serving classic Slovenian dishes.
The entrance is guarded by a furry troll.
The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Prices correct as of May 2025.
A 0.1l glass of Slovenian Cabernet Sauvignon (Jakončič, Goriška brda) – was more like a 0.15l (€4.00). A carafe of tap water was free.
The beef meat balls, with tomato sauce and mashed potatoes, were delicious and more than enough to eat. (€11.80).
The stuffed peppers, with minced beef meat and rice in a tomato sauce and mashed potatoes was another fantastic dish.(€11.80).
The restaurant is huge, there are more tables upstairs.
If Ljubljančanka was in our home town, we’d visit every week.
