Wood & Steak offers Czech beef in a modern restaurant, not far from the centre of Prague. Sadly, prices were increased by over 30% in May 2025.
Our waiter was friendly and professional. Prices correct as of May 2025.
A 0.1l glass of really good Primitivo di Manduria Taló DOC / San Marzano / Puglia 165 Kč – thankfully the pour was more than 0.1l, which is a ridiculous measure for red wine. The price in April 2025 was 120 Kč so we weren’t happy about this jump. A carafe of tap water 49 Kč.
The 200g filet mignon, cooked medium rare (770 Kč up from 590 Kč in April 2025), was tender and delicious. The Grenaille potatoes with rosemary (85 Kč) were amazing.
The peppercorn sauce (79 Kč) was rich and unctuous.
The 200g flank steak, cooked medium rare (460 Kč was 390 Kč), is a tasty option if you don’t want to pay for filet mignon.
The green beans with bacon (85 Kč) were perfectly cooked.
We really liked Wood & Steak, but the ridiculous increase in prices means we won’t be back soon. You can still get a good steak at a decent price at U Pečeného Kolena.
