Tawerna Dominikańska is a lovely restaurant in the centre of Gdańsk with views to the Motława river. The food is good – well except for the fish and chips!

Prices correct as of August 2025.

A 0.5l carafe of Gentes de Pias Tinto 60 zł. A 0.7l bottle of water 22 zł.

Sous-vide chicken breast served with herb-roasted potatoes, mushroom sauce, and a mixed salad with vegetables and vinaigrette 59 zł. Delicious!

Whole roasted sea bass, served with herb and garlic roasted potatoes, and a mixed salad with vegetables and vinaigrette 76 zł. Looks a bit sad but was very good.

Salmon filet with mash and vegetables 78 zł. Must have been a special as no longer on the menu – was lovely.

Fish and chips: Fried cod fillet served with fries and sauerkraut slaw 66 zł. We expected a piece of battered cod that had been fried. It turns out ‘fish & chips’ in Gdansk is a piece of fried cod. Sadly, without the batter to protect the fish, this was not to our taste. There were also plenty of bones.

The only bad dish we had over three visits – don’t choose this!

Tawerna Dominikańska was the only place we’ve visited in Poland that insisted on tips in cash. We left Euros as never carry any zlotý in Poland.

We really enjoyed our first two visits and would recommend Tawerna Dominikańska – just don’t have the fish and chips!
