Within the Dakota Hotel, Newcastle lies a hidden cigar terrace. A leafy, heated, and comfortable space, the terrace is perfect for cigar connoisseurs.
There is a direct entrance (to the left) – it’s better to enter via reception so that someone notices you and comes to take your drink order, provide a cigar ashtray etc.
The terrace has just a few tables, but there were only two occupied on a Friday evening – photo taken after everyone had left.
There is no ‘cutting fee’ or minimum spend when bringing your own cigars – although I’m sure they’d like you to at least purchase a drink!
Tables don’t have cedar sticks, cigar cutters, nor matches, although I guess you can ask for at least the second two.
Service was friendly and professional, although you may not see anyone for a long time after the first serving – so order double! Drinks are priced as you would expect for the location and style.
You may be asked to pay as you go, especially after 10pm. This because the terrace is mostly unattended and there is a direct exit to the street.
