After spending a week in Siem Reap at the FCC Angkor, we took a taxi to the airport, visited the lounge, then flew to Singapore Changi Airport. Just a couple of hours flight.
The new Siem Reap airport is almost an hour by taxi from the the centre. We booked via the Grab taxi app for US$40. The hotel transfer would have cost US$80. Our vehicle and driver were absolutely fine.
The airport, built by China and leased back to Cambodia, is modern and everything works nicely.
The Star Alliance lounge was surprisingly good, with plenty of food available and drinks poured by friendly staff.
Boarding was managed well and our exit row seat was comfortable. The flight wasn’t full. Here’s the view from the back of the aircraft.
The cabin crew were both beautiful and professional.
The in-flight food was pretty good:
Ginger Spring Onion Fish with rice vermicelli (other option was Baked Pasta with Chicken Tomato Ragout).
Ondeh Ondeh Cake – Layered pandan flavoured soft sponge cake, filled with sweet palm sugar cream, and topped with coconut flakes.
It wasn’t long until we could see the Singapore Strait, full of ships waiting to unload and refuel – we could also see the Marina Bay Sands hotel complex.
Singapore Changi Airport is amazing. We’d completed our arrival cards online a few days earlier and were able to zip through the e-passport gates.
We used the Grab app for a taxi and that was less than S$30 – still have no idea why taxis are the only thing in Singapore that isn’t expensive!
Highly recommend Singapore Airlines.
