Just a few steps from Padstow harbour, Caffè Rojano combines Mediterranean-inspired dishes, wood-fired cooking and relaxed family-friendly dining.

We booked the quiet booth table in the upstairs part of the restaurant. Downstairs was already busy.

Upstairs is cosy.

There’s also a small outdoor terrace, although I would risk losing an expensive plate of food to the local seagulls!

All the staff were friendly and professional. Prices correct as of May 2026.

A 175ml glass of 2024 Merlot Corvina, Ponte Pietra, Veneto, Italy £8.25. A carafe of tap water – free.

We went for a series of small plates to share.

Sicilian arancini, crisp bolognese & Parmesan risotto, black truffle & Madeira mayonnaise. £12. Absolutely delicious.

Duroc rib, Iberian pork, PX barbeque glaze, seaweed & vinegar scratchings. £12. Another amazing dish.

Paprika fried squid, cayenne mayonnaise, parsley, lemon & lime. £15.50. Nice enough, but disappointingly average.

Caffè Rojano fries, seaweed, rosemary, Parmesan, triple mustard mayonnaise. £6. Nothing special about these fries at all – basic thin-cut fries sprinkled with Parmesan.

A mixed bag really. The restaurant is obviously capable of producing great food, but we weren’t impressed enough to return.

Chef Paul Ainsworth has several locations in the area. We visited the Mariner’s gastro pub for Sunday roast lunch and will post that review soon.
